More than 19,000 deaths have not been recorded
Based on the recapitulation of COVID-19 data per province collected by the LaporCovid19 team, as of July 23 2021, the number of positive COVID-19 deaths has reached 100,436 people. This data does not include a number of provinces that have not updated their data as well as several provinces whose data cannot be accessed because the website has problems, for example North Sumatra and North Maluku.
FINDINGS
More than 19,000 deaths have not been recorded
COVID-19 cases in Indonesia have reached more than 3 million cases, but data accuracy continues to be a problem. Until now, the LaporData LaporCovid19 Volunteer Team continues to find gaps or differences in the death rates for COVID-19 cases released by the central government and the accumulated death rates from each province.
Meanwhile, as of July 23 2021, the number of positive COVID-19 deaths released by the central government was 80,598 people. Therefore, there is a difference in death rates of 19,838 or 24.6%. This condition shows that there is a serious problem in collecting data on deaths due to the pandemic in Indonesia because there are more than 19,000 positive Covid-19 patients who have died whose data has not been recorded by the central government. In fact, with all the resources it has, the government should be able to provide information related to the Covid-19 pandemic that is appropriate to field conditions, always updated, and in sync with information published by regional governments. Moreover, the death rate does not include data on deaths of patients with probable status.
Based on accumulated data from the provincial government, the number of patients who died with probable status was 22,926. Therefore, if you use provincial government data, the number of people who died, both positive and probable, has reached 123,362 people. Unfortunately, data on the number of probable patients who died was never published by
Central government. The following is a graph of the development of differences in the number of deaths in May July 2021
the number gap is increasingly widening.
Of the 34 provinces in Indonesia, there are 16 provinces with a death toll of more than 1000 people. The province with the highest number of positive COVID-19 deaths is still Central Java with a death toll of 26,943, followed by East Java with 17,486, West Java with 14,138 and DKI Jakarta with 11,021 people. These seven provinces represent 69% of positive deaths
COVID-19 that occurred in Indonesia.

Based on the graph above, Central Java is the province with the largest difference in deaths, namely 10,731, followed by West Java at 6,230, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta at 762. This condition certainly raises the question, what causes the positive death rate for COVID-19 in a number of provinces to experience such a large difference?
Based on monitoring by the LaporCovid19 team, there are 106 cities/regencies with the number of active cases (under treatment and in self-isolation) of more than 1000 people. However, what should be noted is that not all regions publish the number of people who are self-isolating. The following is a list of these areas:
