PRESS RELEASE

OPEN SOMATION OF BOOSTER VACCINES

We, the undersigned, hereby submit an open summons to:

  • President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Ir. Joko Widodo
  • Chair of the Policy Committee for Handling Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and National Economic Recovery, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto
  • Indonesian Minister of Health, Mr Budi Gunadi Sadikin
  • Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Tito Karnavian
  • Chair of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency

This open summons is based on the following matters:

  1. Indonesia's vaccination numbers are still showing low numbers. The number of vaccination targets set by the Government is 208,265,720. Vaccination has been implemented for almost ten months, but only 65,957,151 people received the first dose (31.67%). Meanwhile, 37,722,478 people received the second dose (18.11%);
  2. Vaccination in several areas was forced to stop due to limited vaccines, and in some areas even stock ran out. The following is data on several areas that are examples of difficulties and running out of vaccines.
  3. The limited availability of vaccines is distributed unequally, which is contrary to guidelines Strategic Advisory Group Expert WHO and have a conflict of interest. This conflict of interest is demonstrated in the following facts:
    • Influencers;
    • Political parties.
  4. Furthermore, officials apparently received a third or booster vaccine even though in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health Number: HK.02.01/1/1919/2021 the booster vaccine is only for Health Workers. This is very ironic in the situation where there are so many deaths of health workers and there are still many people who haven't even received vaccine I.
  5. Meanwhile, on the other hand, based on letter number: SR.02.06/II/2024/2021, dated 4 August 2021 which was signed by Plt. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health addressed to the Head of the National Police Medical and Health Center, regarding the allocation for distribution of the Moderna-Covax Facility M2 Covid-19 vaccine in August in the amount of 1,000,020 doses or 71,430 vials as well as several other logistics in the form of AD Syringes, Safety Boxes, Alcohol Swabs which will be used to accelerate vaccination. The distribution allocation made by the Ministry of Health to the National Police based on this letter does not take into account the role of the District/City/Provincial Health Service. The impact of this action is that the allocation and distribution of vaccines in districts/cities/provinces is uneven and insufficient to accelerate Covid-19 vaccination;
