Surabaya, Partnership. Mrs. Muji, a Covid-19 victim, died after giving birth at the hospital in July 2021. According to Mrs. Fajri, one of Mrs. Muji's neighbors; This mother of four children, who works as an employee/massage worker at a spa, was diagnosed with Covid when she was about to give birth.
"Mrs. Muji was stressed before giving birth because she had to give birth via caesarean section. Meanwhile, Mrs. Muji did not prepare the costs for the operation which she felt were quite large. Plus, she did not receive any social assistance from the government. So she had to bear all the costs of the birth herself."
Not only that, Mrs. Muji's family, who lives in Kendangsari sub-district, Tenggilis Mejoyo sub-district, Surabaya, was also forced to pay 2 months in arrears on her boarding house rent to cover all the costs of Mrs. Muji's birth and funeral.
Three times the same as Mrs. Muji, Mrs. A, who lives in Sidoarjo, also experienced the same thing. Diagnosed with Covid before giving birth, then died.
Mrs. Umi, Mrs. A's mother-in-law, told the Partnership that her daughter-in-law was stressed before a caesarean delivery because she was diagnosed with Covid and also because of the heavy burden of delivery costs that had to be borne.
"My child is still married religiously because mother A is still in the process of divorcing her old husband. My child is also only an online motorbike taxi driver, how can he bear the cost of a caesarean section of that amount, sis. Meanwhile, he doesn't have BPJS or KIS."

"We can only register data on our residents who have Surabaya ID cards. As for non-Surabaya KK, I can't do anything, sis. That can only be fought for in Mrs. Muji's hometown," said the RT man who is known to be friendly.
